This qualification reflects the roles of training developers and instructional designers who are responsible for analysing training needs, designing training solutions and products to meet workplace capability requirements, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
They may have a role in providing guidance and advice to trainers and assessors, promoting innovative practices, e.g. e-learning, and in researching and incorporating best practice in training and assessment into training programs and products.
This qualiﬁcation is aimed at participants who are working in a training role within an organisation and are responsible for the design of products and training solutions and leading other trainers and assessors as well as designing approaches to learning and assessment strategies across their organisation or in the VET sector.
Skills Strategies International delivers the TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development in blended mode including tutorial sessions, online learning and workplace learning. The tutorial sessions are scheduled every month.

The qualification consists of 5 Core units and 5 Elective units. 2 of the 5 Elective units may be selected from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course. These Electives must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.
We strongly recommend that you have completed the TAE40110/TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or have the vocational experience to undertake this qualification.
It is also recommended that you work in the VET sector or have access to the VET sector for the purpose of training practicums.
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) – as a consequence of extended experience as a VET practitioner, some units will be suitable for RPL assessment.
